The IODisplay module allows a user to initiate, monitor and terminate

To run the program type

>IODisplay

After loading the following window will appear.

 
IO Display Window

1- Data Selection Option Menu

This menu designates what information is presented in the translational and rotational output display sliders. Currently only the position can be displayed. The change in position, velocity, and acceleration may later be added.

2- Input Device Selection Option Menu

This menu allows the user to choose which input device, Figure 3, will be controlled and monitored by this window. Each item in this menu has a box to the left of the label; that box turns green when that input device is running. Therefore this menu also acts as a list of currently active input devices.

3- Zero Button

This button sends a command to the input device to recalibrate itself. The current position of the input device becomes the zero point.

4- Load/Quit Button

This button initiates and terminates an input device process. The IODisplay application can sense if the input device is on the network. If the device is not sensed this button has a 'Load' label. Clicking on this button will run the process on the appropriate machine as stated in the IorLoad.dat file. If the input device is already running the button has a 'Quit' label. Clicking on this button will send a command terminating that process.

5- Logitech Mouse Buttons Display

This display graphically show the state of the Logitech mouse buttons. When a button is pressed the appropriate graphical button is highlighted.

6- Hand Controller Buttons Display

This display graphically show the state of the hand controller buttons. When a button is pressed the appropriate graphical button is highlighted.

7- Spaceball Buttons Display

This display graphically show the state of the spaceball buttons. When a button is pressed the appropriate graphical button is highlighted.

8- Translational and Rotational Output Display

These sliders graphically show the current position of the input device. To the left of the sliders a display field give a digital readout. For Cartesian rate devices (hand controllers, Spaceball, hand controller simulators), the range for each display output is -1 to 1. For Cartesian position devices (Logitech ultrasound sensors and Ascension magnetic sensors), the output is displayed in inches for translations and degrees for rotations.
